В настоящем издании представлен биографический роман о Джемсе Уатте (1736–1819), английском изобретателе, создателе универсального теплового двигателя. Изобрел (1774–84) паровую машину с цилиндром двойного действия, в которой применил центробежный регулятор, передачу от штока цилиндра к балансиру с параллелограммом и др. Машина Уатта сыграла большую роль в переходе к машинному производству.
